Vacancies

We encourage players of all wind band instruments to join us but reserve the right to decide which band is most suitable for new joiners, based on their experience and current band vacancies. In order to keep up with the standard and ambitions of the Concert Band, new players joining the Concert Band are expected to be at least grade 6 standard, with some band or ensemble experience. Currently to balance the band we are particularly seeking players who play low brass instruments and percussion instruments

For those who haven't had as much experience of playing their instrument, or prefer less formal music and performances, BWCB "Second Wind" is an ideal environment for joining in and improving alongside others with a similar outlook. Players of all wind and brass instruments are welcome, as well as those learning percussion. In particular we would like to encourage more players of flute, oboe, trumpet/cornet, trombone, French horn, euphonium or baritone horn, bassoon or percussion instruments. "Second Wind" players currently range in experience from 2 years' experience on their instrument up to grade 6 standard.
Players of brass instruments can also join Breakaway Brass which is a a small brass band formed as an offshoot group of BWCB.

Opportunities for learning a musical instrument

If you are in the early stages of learning a wind or brass instrument or percussion, come along to the Beaufort Band. It's the fastest and most fun way to improve! You will need to be able to read music. Lessons can also be arranged through Berkshire Maestros. It is never too late to learn!
